URBAN REVITALIZATION
NANJING, CHINA
JUNE 2007
One-fifth of the worlds waterways are present in the country of China, which are home to three of the top ten "rivers at risk" worldwide. The accommodation of rapid population growth has contributed to polluting China's dwindling fresh water supply. HYDROpolis is proposed as part of a revitalization process for cities along the Yagtzee River to identify, remove, and rebuild the urban fabric around "at-risk" rivers. Reintroducing waterways into cities along the Yangtzee River Basin can help remedy pollution while creating self sustaining water communities preventing a scarce water supply in China while stimulating a lost water culture.
